Is Air Fried Chicken Better-For-You?
This will be dependent on how you prefer it. It’s certainly a better option than deep frying because you are eliminating most of the oil.
In saying that though if you make Air Fried Chicken and dip it in ranch dressing, it probably isn’t that healthy!
It is a better option though because instead of fully deep frying the chicken, hot air is circulating the chicken and minimal oil is used to coat the chicken.
This allows you to get that crispy texture without all the oil and grease that comes with deep frying.
Can you put raw chicken in the air fryer?
Yes! Raw chicken can be placed in the air fryer and cooked. It’s best to check the temperature with a meat thermometer or instant read thermometer to be sure it’s cooked to an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees F.
Many of these recipes will include cooking raw chicken in the air fryer.
Can you use aluminum foil in the air fryer when cooking chicken?
I do this a lot because it’s just easier clean-up and in my air fryer sometimes the chicken sticks to the basket.
If you do add aluminum foil, be sure to leave some room for air to still circulate. I roll the foil up on the side of the basket so the air can still get through. Another thing to remember with foil is to make sure the food is placed on the foil before heating the air fryer.
Alternatively, you can also place a few spoons on the foil to keep it weighted down. This is done so that the foil does not blow into the heating element.
I also find with any recipe it’s best to spray the foil or the basket with oil-based spray. Grapeseed Oil Spray is the optimal choice due to the high smoke point. We do use olive oil quite a bit; however, it has a much lower smoke point.
Do not use an aerosol nonstick spray as this can damage your air fryer basket.
