Air Fryer Roasted Okra makes a great side dish for your next dinner!
Okra is by far my favorite vegetable to grow in the garden and eat too! We love to cook it on the stove with a little bit of olive oil and cornmeal, but lately we’ve been adding less oil by making it in the air fryer as Air Fryer Roasted Okra.

Air Fryer Roasted Okra may be the easiest thing that you make in the air fryer, all you need is okra, a little bit of olive oil cooking spray, and garlic salt. Once it’s nice and coated, then you simply cook it for 10 minutes, and out comes a great side item!
Can you add breading to Air Fryer Okra?
Yes, of course, you can also add breading to okra too and put it in the air fryer, this Southern Style Okra is a great choice. This is very similar to how we make it on the stove, but instead, it’s air fried.

Similarly, the roasted okra is a lot fewer carbs without the breading but just as good!
What do you need for Air Fryer Roasted Okra?
- Okra
- Garlic Salt
- Olive Oil Cooking Spray

That’s all you need to make this, right now we’ve been just picking the okra straight from the garden. If you want to save okra too, be sure to check out how to freeze okra, then you can enjoy this year-round.
Tips for Making Air Fryer Roasted Okra:
As always, remember that all air fryers heat differently, which means you will want to check on this around the 7-8 minute mark. It will likely need a good stir at that time as well; however, for my Ninja Foodi Air Fryer, it took 10 minutes to fully cook.

The okra does shrink up in the air fryer, so remember that even if it looks like a lot when you add it, it won’t be when you open it up.
I used fresh okra to make our air fryer roasted okra and it did not have much ‘slime’ to it, but I have heard that sometimes frozen works better to avoid the slimy okra. In saying that, in my experience testing this with the air fryer, I’ve found the opposite to be true and for us, freshly picked okra worked better.
It’s best to make sure they are very dry too, not wet when they head into the air fryer.

Thank you for this recipe. I am cooking okra curry for a big group and was wondering how I can make arecently purchased air fryer work to my advantage. I will cook the okra in the airfryer and then finish stovetop with the spices. One way to make it less slimy is to squeeze some lemon on it near the end., we use dry mango powder but I think anything acidic would do.
