Make the best Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Wings, perfect for dinner or parties!
Let’s talk about Air Fryer Chicken Wings and all you need to know about them. This post is going to focus on crispy chicken wings that are seasoned with garlic parmesan.
Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Wings happen to be one of our favorites. These can be made with drummettes, flats, or wings, any part of the chicken will work with this method.
These wings are the game day favorite around our home and it’s so much easier to use the air fryer over deep fryer. Even with using the air fryer the chicken skin will still be golden brown and crispy, just the way you want air fryer chicken wings to turn out.
Tips for Making Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Wings:
The most important thing when making these is to be sure not to overcrowd your air fryer. In order for them to get crispy, the air needs to be able to circulate well.
This means that they need to be placed in a single layer in the air fryer basket in order for the hot air to fully circulate around the wings.
This is also the best way to get the crispiest chicken wings.
When you are unpacking the chicken wings, use a few paper towels to dab off any excess moisture before adding the dry rub seasonings.
It’s best to prepare these by placing them in a 9×13 dish or on a large baking sheet to be able to evenly coat them with the butter and seasoning. It’s much easier to prepare these in a baking dish or sheet as opposed to a large mixing bowl.
They are topped with Parmigiano Cheese which really gives them an extra boost of flavor, I wouldn’t skip it!
These wings are not spicy, but if you want to add spice you can easily add in some Cayenne Pepper and spice them up.
The air fryer chicken wings will be placed in a preheated air fryer, so remember to preheat while you are preparing the wings.
Once they are placed in the air fryer, they will be cooked on both sides for about 12 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches nearly 175°F.
To get the best result, be sure to keep a meat thermometer handy to check the internal temperature.
If the wings look floury at all during cooking time, you can coat them with olive oil spray or grapeseed oil spray. Just a small dash of oil spray will allow them to get extra crispy.
How do you reheat crispy chicken wings?
These can of course be heated in the microwave but our preferred method is the air fryer.
These can be reheated at 350°F for about 3-4 minutes in your air fryer.
Don’t forget to use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the wings, getting them close to 175*F. This temperature will yield the juiciest wings!
Do you need oil for air fryer crispy chicken wings?
Oil is not needed for air fryer chicken wings; however, I like to keep grapeseed oil spray on hand just in case they look a little dry or floury.
If you see any dry or floury wings, give them a nice coat of grapeseed oil spray and they will crisp right up and be nice and juicy.
What are the best dipping sauces for chicken wings?
We have THREE major ones that ALWAYS end up on our table for chicken wings and they include some of our favorite wing sauce!
- Buffalo Sauce
- Ranch Dressing
- Barbecue Sauce
- Blue Cheese Dressing
Do you use a dipping sauce? What is your favorite way to serve crispy air fryer wings?
Can you store leftover chicken wings in the refrigerator?
The leftover wings can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Use the reheating instructions above to reheat in the air fryer or heat in the microwave in a microwave-safe dish for 2-3 minutes.
