This breakfast sausage is simple to make in just 8 minutes in the air fryer, with basically no prep work needed.
What do you need for Air Fryer Sausage Patties?
To make Air Fryer Sausage Patties, all you need is the breakfast sausage of your choice, like pork sausage. Once you have it defrosted, simply slice off the sausage to make raw sausage patties.
Once that is done, you really do not need anything else unless you want to add some additional seasonings to your sausage. We like to add a little fennel seed to ours to season them a bit.
How long do you cook sausage patties in the Air Fryer?
The cooking process is quite simple and makes for an easy recipe on busy mornings.
Once you have the breakfast patties made, place them in a single layer in the air fryer.
These can be placed on aluminum foil or coated in the air fryer basket with grapeseed oil spray.
If you are using raw sausage as we did in this recipe, you will set the air fryer to 390*F and cook for about 8 minutes or until fully browned.
If you are using frozen sausage patties that are pre-cooked, you can cook those at 390*F for about 4 minutes.
The internal temperature for sausage patties needs to be at least 160*F to be considered fully cooked.
We do not use a preheated air fryer to make these, so they can go into a cold air fryer.
What type of meat should you use?
A variety of meat can be used for this such as:
Either of these options will work, if you use the pork sausage patties, you do not need to cut or shape them because they are already done.
If you use the sausage roll, be sure to cut or shape it into a sausage patty before placing it in the air fryer.
This method does work for sausage links as well.
Tips for Making Air Fryer Breakfast Sausage Patties:
This method is very straightforward using fresh patties along with your preferred seasoning this could be fennel seed, garlic powder, or red pepper flakes.
Once they are ready to place into the air fryer basket, they are cooked for 8-10 minutes. If you prefer, you can place them on a paper towel lined plate; however, there should not be much extra oil with this method.
If this is the first time that you are making them in your machine, always check in on them throughout the cooking time to be sure that they are not overcooking.
All machines tend to heat differently which makes it important to keep a close eye on them while air frying.
It’s always best to use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature, these should be at least 160 degrees F to be considered well done.

How do you store leftover patties?
Homemade sausage patties can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
When you are ready to reheat the sausages, they can be reheated for 1-2 minutes in the microwave, or for best results, heat them in the air fryer at 360°F for 3 minutes or until warm.

When doing sausage links, is it best to separate them so they are individual, then turn after 4 minutes, or keep them as one and turn after the 4 minutes?
Thanks for your help.
