Making frozen fish fillets in the air fryer is so easy, even better when you make this tasty Air Fryer Cod. These Frozen Cod in the Air Fryer are ready to eat in less than 15 minutes.

There is no need to thaw the fish, just place it straight into the air fryer basket, and in less than 15 minutes, you will have a delicious, crispy, golden piece of cod that’s perfectly cooked on the inside and ready to pair with your Air Fryer Hush Puppies!
Why should you make Air Fryer Cod Fillets?

- Quick and Easy – NO work on your part, simply take it out of the freezer and straight to the air fryer basket.
- Better for You – Only a small amount of oil spray will be used for this frozen cod but you will still get that crispy, tender texture.
- Versatile – Any type of frozen cod can be used from lightly breaded to seasoned.
- Multiple Dietary Options – There are many brands of gluten-free frozen cod, so this can be made with gluten-free cod or regular cod based on your dietary needs.
What brand of Gluten-Free Air Fryer Cod should you use?
In order to make this gluten-free, I used Hook Line and Savour Gluten-Free Air Fryer Cod. These come pre-seasoned and breaded, so everything you see here in this fish is completely already done, this is a recipe to heat up frozen cod in the air fryer.
Hook Line and Savour Gluten-Free Frozen Cod is found at local Sam’s Club Stores.
These can be made in your air fryer in less than 15 minutes.
If you are looking for a fresh fish recipe, try this Air Fried Fish Recipe, which can also be made gluten-free.
What frozen cod should you use in the air fryer?

If you do not need gluten-free breaded cod, then you can use any frozen cod in the air fryer. If you want to use the Everything Seasoned Frozen Cod, it can be found at your local Costco.
This method though will work with ANY Frozen Cod whether it’s lightly breaded or seasoned.
Tips for Making Air Fryer Cod:
Always watch the timing! These fillets took 15 minutes at 390 degrees F in a cold air fryer; however, air fryers all tend to heat differently, so be sure to watch closely the first time you make your fillets.
The cod should have an internal temperature of at least 145 degrees F when checked with a meat thermometer. It should easily flake with a fork when touched.
The size of the fillet can make a difference as well when cooking, we have found Gorton’s Fish Fillets to be done closer to 10 minutes, so it’s always important to watch closely when learning to cook on your air fryer machine.

A silicone liner in the air fryer can be used for less mess too. I have been using these regularly now when cooking and it’s a great way to avoid anything sticking to the bottom plus easy to clean.
Be sure to flip the cod halfway through the cooking time to get an even crispy texture on both sides. It’s best to spray the cod with grapeseed oil spray or olive oil cooking spray when turning it. We serve ours with Air Fried Okra.
How do you store leftover fillets?
The leftover cooked fillets can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days. When ready to reheat place in the air fryer at 320 degrees F for 2-3 minutes.
The best option since these are frozen fish fillets is to cook only the amount needed that way they stay frozen until you are ready to serve them.

Cooking frozen fish in the air fryer is the ultimate time-saver for a busy weeknight. There is no need to plan, just grab your frozen fillets and air fry. It only takes 15 minutes to make a delicious fish dinner!

This recipe is misleading. The picture shows a beautifully crusted piece of cod but there is no mention of any crusting in the recipe.
Kristy says
The cod that is used in this recipe is mentioned both in the post and the recipe card, the title also says Frozen Cod, but again product is linked within the post and the recipe card. http://hooklineandsavor.com/products.html
Lovel says
There are no suggestions for the seasonings or breading. Not very helpful.

Not a recipe
Kristy says
This is how you air fry frozen cod as mentioned in the title of the recipe. If you are looking for a recipe from scratch here it is – https://airfryerfanatics.com/air-fried-fish-gluten-free-air-fryer/.
Louise says
Also stand by the other reviews; I came to the site due to the picture of the breaded cod. If you were not going to bread the fish, you should consider posting a picture of unbreaded fished. The other way around seems deceptive.
Kristy says
As mentioned in the comments and throughout this post, this is a recipe for frozen cod, which mine was breaded as most frozen cod is. If you would like to bread it yourself, you can find my recipe for air fried fish that is made fresh and breaded here – https://airfryerfanatics.com/air-fried-fish-gluten-free-air-fryer/.
If you want frozen cod that is similar to what is pictured, I also link to that within the post you can find it here – https://hooklineandsavor.com/products.html
Costco also offers one too at their stores that is made the same way.
There is nothing misleading about this post as even the title says it’s Frozen Cod and I have indicated exactly what is pictured all throughout my post.
Lisa-Marie says
I am an agreement with these ladies Posts. I read the recipe 3 times to make sure. Don’t post something that does have all ingredients. Even if you repeat the recipe somewhere else.
Kristy says
All the ingredients are in the recipe and the post. I used frozen cod that came seasoned, I clearly say this repeatedly in this post and recipe along with linking to the ones I used. This is a recipe for already breaded and seasoned frozen cod bought from the frozen section of Costco. For fresh fish, you would need to check out the recipe that I link to in the post – https://airfryerfanatics.com/air-fried-fish-gluten-free-air-fryer/
Lynn Marie says
I agree with Kristy.. ingredients are listed… preseason fish from C OSTCO… just a the recipe reads. I found no confusion.
Thanks Kristy.

Just what I was looking for, thanks!

I simply wanted to know how long and what temp to cook frozen fish, and that’s what I learned from your article – thank you very much! And that Costco gf fish looks amazing!
Liz says
This is not a recipe, and Iโm mad that I gave you any additional traffic to this trash post. No one wants to read your backstory that explains youโve purchased pre-processed food at Costco.
Kristy says
This is how you heat and serve cod from the air fryer that is frozen which is 100% what the title says “frozen cod”, it’s prebreaded, this method can be used any breaded and frozen fish which is clear in the post and recipe information. I’ve also linked to the fresh cod that is breaded by hand in the post as well, it can be found here – https://airfryerfanatics.com/air-fried-fish-gluten-free-air-fryer/. If you prefer, you can add Everything seasoning to it to have the same flavoring as the cod in these pictures as well. I apologize if you found it was misinterpreted, but I have tried my best to clearly communicate this post is about frozen cod that is store-bought.
Matt says
Great recipe! The suggestion to flip them halfway through is key! Whatโs added was after flipping I add some herb, garlic powder, black pepper and a spritz of olive oil. Thank you for posting this!

Click bait – hook line and sinker
Kristy says
No click bait, the product is called “Hook, Line, and Savor”…no sinker over here. It’s a great frozen fish and that is exactly what the photos are of, I mention that several times in the post too. This post is for frozen cod and how to make it. This particular frozen cod had Everything Bagel seasoning on it, which is what is on the pictures. Here is more info, this is also linked in the post as well – https://hooklineandsavor.com/

I was looking for the time and temp to cook COD in an air fryer. I have my own coatings and seasonings. Thank you for posting this. I donโt think itโs click bait. It answered my question. Although, I will say that without reading the entire article, people would be mislead if they just clicked on โJump to Recipeโ. Anyway, after reading it all, I do see where you said all that other that you replied to those post.
Sara says
Apparently others have issues with reading and comprehension. Lol
I came on to see temp and timing of frozen/breaded fish for the air fryer, and thatโs exactly what you have posted.
Thank you!
(And for reference, this post was not misleading in any way)

Luis says
That’s exactly what I was looking for, temp and timing and it answered the question perfectly. I too do not agree that it is click bait or misleading. People just dont want to take the time to read, instead jumping right into the recipe. I feel bad for Kristy.
Soni says
Just want you to know I really appreciate your how to achieve good results cooking my cod in my air fryer. I’m not concerned about an ingredients list or amounts, I have my own family go to recipe for that. Thanks for the help!
Lisa says
So sorry Kristy for all the negative shots. Ya gotta wonder how their cooling/baking turns out if they canโt read a recipe!
Thank you for all you do!
NoMoreHaters says
Ignore the negative haters! They clearly can’t read and need to get a life if they have the time to do nothing but post negative bs. The rest of us appreciate your time and effort you spend on this and it’s very helpful so thank you!!
