This recipe focuses on making potato skins from scratch using the air fryer; however, if you are looking to heat already-made frozen potato skins, those can easily be heated at 390 degrees F for 10 minutes in the air fryer.
Tips for Making Air Fryer Potato Skins:
These potato skins need to be made with cooked baked potatoes. It’s best to make the baked potatoes in the air fryer for 40 minutes, immediately following this, move forward with slicing the potatoes along with removing the flesh leaving a thin layer of skin to bake with a few toppings.
It’s best to keep a thin amount of flesh inside, scooping the center out to create a valley. Leaving a small amount will help keep the structure of the potato.
Russet Potatoes will work the best for these because they are sturdy, thick potatoes.

Once some of the flesh is removed, the potatoes can be placed right back into the warm air fryer and topped with cheese and shredded bacon. The potato skins will be cooked for 5 more minutes at 390 degrees F. Once fully cooked, add your favorite toppings like sour cream and green onions. If you want to add heat, add a few jalapenos!
This is by far the best way to do this because the potatoes are nice and crispy already from cooking in the air fryer.

It’s best to add salt and pepper to taste once they have completed cooking time, plus dip in Homemade Ranch Dressing.
If you want to top your potatoes with freshly shredded bacon, be sure to use this recipe for Air Fryer Bacon too.
