When cravings hit, be sure to use your handy air fryer or Ninja Foodi to make these Air Fryer Cheeseburgers, which can also be made as Ninja Foodi Cheeseburgers with the same method and no grill needed!
Air Fryer Cheeseburgers are fast, easy, and packed with all the flavor that you know and love from a traditional grilled burger, only without the hassle of getting the grill ready. These are great for a quick weeknight meal or a meal for one!

I am now using a Ninja Foodi, which does basically everything all in one great appliance. Find out more about the Ninja Foodi here! I go back and forth between my Ninja Air Fryer and Ninja Multi-Cooker. These burgers can be made in ANY Air Fryer, so use your favorite model. If you are using a Ninja Foodi Multi-Cooker, use the Air Crisp Function.
Why you’ll love Air Fryer Cheeseburgers:
- Fast and Easy – Ready in less than 20 minutes!
- No Mess – The mess is contained, no need to flip burgers or cook over an open flame, all that has to be cleaned is the air fryer basket.
- Juicy Burgers – The air fryer locks in the moisture, creating a juicy burger every single time.
- Customize – Make the burgers gluten-free, add cheese and seasonings to make them exactly the way YOU like them!
Ingredients for Air Fryer Cheeseburgers Recipe:

- Fresh Ground Beef Patties
- Colby Jack or Sharp Cheddar Cheese Slices
- Hamburger Buns or Gluten Free Hamburger Buns
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Onion
- Pickles
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Mayonnaise
- Salt or Pepper to Taste

Additional toppings or condiments can also be used, or make a smoky burger with Gouda Cheese. This recipe uses ground beef patties. These can be made fresh with 80/20 ground beef, which is to keep them juicy, or you can use premade beef patties, too. The premade patties are perfect if you are only wanting to cook 1-2 hamburgers because the rest can stay frozen. Using an 80/20 ground beef will make the best juicy air fryer hamburgers.
This same method can be used for turkey burgers as well, our personal favorite.
Tips to Make the Best Cheeseburgers in the Air Fryer:

Place patties into the air fryer basket, then once the initial cook time is complete, a slice of cheese will be added. These can be cooked up to your desired doneness. Once cooking is complete, use the toppings of your choice to top the burgers before serving and make flavorful burgers in minutes!
- Flip carefully – be sure the burger is cooked on one side before flipping.
- Customize – Use your seasonings, we love to use Head Country Seasoning on our burgers, but you can use your favorites too!
- Toast the Buns – Toast the buns in the air fryer for a gourmet burger.
- Watch the internal temperature closely! Always use a meat thermometer to monitor the internal temperature. We prefer our burgers to be at least 165 degrees F, which is well done; adjust for your desired doneness.
Can you use Aluminum Foil in the Air Fryer?

For easier cleanup, you can use aluminum foil in the basket of the air fryer as long as air is still able to circulate. Do not start the air fryer until the hamburgers are on the foil, so that it does not blow into the heating element.
Serving Suggestions for Air Fryer Cheeseburgers:

We like to serve ours with Air Fryer Potato Chips or Air Fryer French Fries.
They are also great served with homemade potato salad.
How do you store leftovers?

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. When ready to serve, reheat in the air fryer at 350 degrees F for 3-5 minutes. Remember, they are best served fresh!
Air Fryer Cheeseburgers or Ninja Foodi Cheeseburgers are ready to eat in less than 20 minutes, making them a weeknight game changer when it comes to getting a quick meal on the table. Easy to pair with your favorite French fries, maybe even a milkshake!

Just bought on and haven’t used it yet. Just browsing a recipes. Can I make my own burgers that I mix with onions and other ingredients or do I have to buy the already made ones?
Kristy says
Yes, you can definitely make your own too!

Hi there. Recently bought a Ninja Foodi and have enjoyed looking at several of your recipes. I wondered about the ability to make the fries/chips at the same time as the burgers? If you use parchment paper, would that work (or your foil idea)? And did you use “air crisp” or “broil” function? Thank you.
Kristy says
I haven’t done it at the same time before so this would be kinda “trying” it to see if it works, but I would probably put the friends on the bottom of the air fryer, use the wire rack and put foil under it and then put the burgers on that. Similar to how I did this recipe for the meatloaf and the potatoes – https://www.mommyhatescooking.com/one-pot-ninja-foodi-meatloaf-and-potatoes. I’d use the air crisp function. The only thing I could see being a potential problem is if the grease drips all over the fries, but the foil under it should help with that.

Are the 4 patties about one pound total?
Kristy says
It’ll depend on the size of patties you use. If you’re using frozen patties, they usually come in either 1/4 pound or 1/3 pound. When I make these with ground beef, I typically use 1 pound of ground beef and make 4 small patties with it.

We have a multi-purpose countertop oven with air fry capabilities. It does cook things way faster!
Thank you for sharing your recipe at the Homestead Blog Hop 552.

Was given an air fryer/oven with racks for Christmas. Do you have any tips for this type of air fryer? Also…can any recipe be used in this type? Thank you.
Kristy says
Hey there, you should be able to use any of the recipes in that air fryer, but may need a pan or something under it so it doesn’t drip to the bottom. Did one come with it?
