As the weather cools down and apple season begins, it’s time to make a delicious treat with fresh apples with these Gluten-Free Air Fryer Apple Fritters!
One of the best things about using the air fryer is making some fried food favorites without all the oil, these Air Fryer Apple Fritters are exactly that, they leave the deep frying behind and use very little oil to make a delicious treat! The best part is these are easy to make as Gluten-Free Air Fryer Apple Fritters with a simple swap of flour.

These fritters have a wonderful crispy outside and warm, soft inside texture with a cinnamon-spiced flavor.
This recipe is very simple taking about 8 minutes per batch, this recipe makes 12 fritters and 4-6 will fit into the air fryer basket at a time, so it’s easy to do in 2 batches.

What type of apple should you use for apple fritters?
This apple fritter recipe only uses a medium-sized apple. It’s best to use a firm apple that will not be too soft when initially starting to bake or air fry it.

The best apples to use are Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. We used a Honeycrisp for this recipe. The apple holds its shape and provides a great balance of sweet and tart flavor.
Ultimately though, you can choose your favorite apples!
What type of gluten-free flour should you use?
This recipe uses gluten-free all-purpose flour, it needs to be a 1:1 ratio with regular all-purpose flour. This means that it can evenly be swapped.
I almost always use either King Arthur Gluten-Free All-Purpose Flour or Better Batter. Bob’s Red Mill and Cup 4 Cup work well too.
Tips for Making Gluten-Free Air Fryer Apple Fritters:

First, be sure to use a firm apple if possible, then it’s very important not to overmix the batter.
Gluten-Free batter can get tough if overmixed, lightly mix the batter with a Danish dough whisk until it’s combined and can be shaped into a ball.

Then, use a tablespoonful size to create a ball to make the fritter. These can be placed into the air fryer basket, always leave a little room in between each one. This allows the air to circulate and evenly cook the fritters.
This is best done with a cookie scoop, here are my favorite cookie scoops on Amazon.

Once the fritters are slightly cooled, drizzle the vanilla glaze on top and serve. These are delicious paired with a cup of coffee.
Be sure to read through the full recipe instructions in the recipe card below for all the details.
How do you store leftover gluten-free air fryer apple fritters?
Once fully cooled, store the leftover fritters in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

If preferred, they can be warmed in the microwave for about 30 seconds before serving.
