In just about 5 minutes make a crispy and delicious easy Air Fryer Grilled Cheese!
If you enjoy this delicious Air Fryer Ham and Cheese Sandwich, then you will love this Air Fryer Grilled Cheese. It uses the same concept without the ham!
Air Fryer Grilled Cheese is a tasty treat and it’s easy to teach the kids to make too.
How do you make Grilled Cheese in an Air Fryer?
This grilled cheese can be made without preheating, but be sure to adjust the times if you do preheat.
This sandwich will be made just as it is on the stove, but you can place the entire thing right in the air fryer. It’s best to butter the outsides of each slice of bread, then just place your favorite cheese right inside and toast it up.
Once it’s in the air fryer, just cook at 360*F for 5 minutes and it’s done!
Remember as always every air fryer heats differently so it’s important to keep a close eye on it if it’s the first time you are making a sandwich in the air fryer.
Can you make a Gluten-Free version?
This can easily be made gluten-free with gluten-free bread. I really love the Canyon Bakehouse sandwich bread, but any gluten-free bread of your choice will work.
Variations:
It’s easy to mix up this sandwich just as I did with the Ham and Cheese, you can add a variety of meat and veggies to it and create your very own favorite grilled cheese sandwich.
If your grilled cheese isn’t golden brown enough on the outside, you can also spritz it with some cooking oil spray too while it’s in the air fryer.
I’ve found that making it in the air fryer gives it more of a crunchy, crispy texture, typically when it’s made on the stovetop it’s softer.
Remember this can also be made in your Ninja Foodi with the air crisp function.
Now, are you ready to eat?

Your recipe says cheese of choice, however what is the best cheese to use for a real cheesy authentic taste
We usually use sharp cheddar cheese, but American cheese is another good one. I also like to combine it too with sharp cheddar and Monterey Jack. Been playing and learning my air fryer and the wife’s go to for dinner is grilled cheese sandwiches I tried this out. I have tried spraying the sides with olive oil besides the butter but they com out crisp edges and soggy middles, adding an extra minute to 6 does not help.
